TLDR
In this article, a simple relation exists between the retention index of a compound on a non-polar stationary phase and its boiling point, which is defined as the ratio of the boiling point of the compound to its retention index.
Abstract
For the characterization of organic substances in gas chromatography a number termed «retention index» is proposed. A simple relation exists between the retention index of a compound on a non-polar stationary phase and its boiling point.

The Impact of Ozone Treatment on Changes in Biologically Active Substances of Cardamom Seeds

TL;DR: This study shows that extract from cardamom seeds after ozone treatment is characterized by a better radical scavenging activity than the control sample and showed an improved FRAP activity as well.

Profile and Content of Residual Alkaloids in Ten Ecotypes of Lupinus mutabilis Sweet after Aqueous Debittering Process

TL;DR: The aim of this study was to evaluate the profile and residual levels of quinolizidine alkaloids (QA) in (Lupinus mutabilis Sweet) after aqueous debittering process and found that only small amounts of lupanine and sparteine remained in the seeds after the debittered process, and no other alkaloid were identified.

Pleurotus species convert monoterpenes to furanoterpenoids through 1,4-endoperoxides

TL;DR: The pathway suggested presents a substantiated biogenetic scheme for the formation of monoterpenoid furans and opens biotechnological access to valuable natural flavour compounds, such as perillene and rosefurane.

Use of retention temperatures for the identification of phenols separated on OV-1701 capillary columns using linear temperature-programmed gas chromatography

TL;DR: In this paper, a procedure is described by means of which linear temperature-programmed gas chromatographic (LTPGC) retention data can be predicted from isothermal Kovats retention indices of substituted phenols separated on capillary columns coated with OV-1701 under LTPGC conditions.

Changes in the levels of jasmonates and free polyamines induced by Na2SO4 and NaCl in roots and leaves of the halophyte Prosopis strombulifera

TL;DR: Prosopis strombulifera, a common legume in high-salinity soils of Argentina, is a useful model for elucidation of salt tolerance mechanisms and specific biochemical pathways in halophytes, since its NaCl tolerance exceeds the limit described for most halophytic plants.

Gas-liquid partition chromatography: the separation and micro-estimation of volatile fatty acids from formic acid to dodecanoic acid

TL;DR: Modifications necessary to the theory of Martin & Synge (1941) to allow for the compressibility of the mobile phase are presented and the application of the gas-liquid partition chromatogram to the separation of volatile fatty acids is described.

Gas-liquid partition chromatography: the separation of volatile aliphatic amines and of the homologues of pyridine.

TL;DR: Analysis of the volatile amines present in Chenopodium vulvaria L. shows the presence of only ammonia and trimethylamine, compared with standard mixture ofmono-, di and tri-methylamines, which indicates a low concentration of ammonia in the plant.
