Global wetland outlook: State of the world’s wetlands and their services to people 2018
Royal C. Gardner,Max Finlayson +1 more
TLDR
The Global Wetland Outlook as discussed by the authors provides a current overview of wetlands: their extent, trends, drivers of change and the responses needed to reverse the historical decline in wetland area and quality.Abstract:
Conservation and wise use of wetlands are vital for human livelihoods. The wide range of ecosystem services wetlands provide means that they lie at the heart of sustainable development. Yet policy and decision-makers often underestimate the value of their benefits to nature and humankind. Understanding these values and what is happening to wetlands is critical to ensuring their conservation and wise use.
The Global Wetland Outlook, the flagship publication of the Ramsar Convention, provides a current overview of wetlands: their extent, trends, drivers of change and the responses needed to reverse the historical decline in wetland area and quality.read more

Wetland mapping with multi-temporal sentinel-1 & -2 imagery (2017 – 2020) and LiDAR data in the grassland natural region of alberta
TL;DR: In the Grassland Natural Region (GNR) of southern Alberta, wetlands are relatively small-sized disconnected prairie pothole marshes, swamps, and shallow open water habitats often surrounded by gras...

The Impact of Wastewater Discharge and Agriculture on Water Quality and Nutrient Retention of Namatala Wetland, Eastern Uganda
Susan Namaalwa,Susan Namaalwa,Anne A. van Dam,Anne A. van Dam,Gretchen M. Gettel,Rose Kaggwa,István Zsuffa,Kenneth Irvine,Kenneth Irvine +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined water quality, and sediment and nutrient retention in different land use zones in the Namatala Wetland in Uganda, and showed that sediment and nutrients and sediment retention in the downstream part of the wetland compensate for increased export caused by agricultural and urban land use in the middle and upper zones of the wetlands.
