Simulated annealing, a new general-purpose method of multivariate optimization, is applied to global wire routing for both idealized (synthetic) and actual designs of realistic size and complexity.
Abstract
Simulated annealing, a new general-purpose method of multivariate optimization, is applied to global wire routing for both idealized (synthetic) and actual designs of realistic size and complexity. Since the simulated annealing results are better than those obtained by conventional methods we use them as a standard against which to compare several sequential or greedy strategies commonly employed in automatic wiring programs.

Optimization by simulated annealing: an experimental evaluation. Part I, graph partitioning

TL;DR: This paper discusses annealing and its parameterized generic implementation, describes how this generic algorithm was adapted to the graph partitioning problem, and reports how well it compared to standard algorithms like the Kernighan-Lin algorithm.

Optimization by Simulated Annealing

TL;DR: There is a deep and useful connection between statistical mechanics and multivariate or combinatorial optimization (finding the minimum of a given function depending on many parameters), and a detailed analogy with annealing in solids provides a framework for optimization of very large and complex systems.

Equation of state calculations by fast computing machines

TL;DR: In this article, a modified Monte Carlo integration over configuration space is used to investigate the properties of a two-dimensional rigid-sphere system with a set of interacting individual molecules, and the results are compared to free volume equations of state and a four-term virial coefficient expansion.

Thermal conduction module: a high-performance multilayer ceramic package

TL;DR: The thermal conduction module (TCM) as mentioned in this paper utilizes a 90 × 90mm MLC substrate to interconnect up to 118 LSI devices and provides a cooling capacity of up to 300 W. The TCM is compared to prior technologies to illustrate the improvements in packaging density, reliability and performance.
