Journal ArticleDOI

Global continental and ocean basin reconstructions since 200 Ma

TL;DR: In this paper, a new type of global plate motion model consisting of a set of continuously-closing topological plate polygons with associated plate boundaries and plate velocities since the break-up of the supercontinent Pangea is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

Detrital zircon geochronology of pre-Tertiary strata in the Tibetan-Himalayan orogen

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used 13,441 new or existing U-Pb ages of zircon crystals from strata in the Lesser Himalayan, Greater Himalayan and Tethyan sequences in the Himalaya, the Lhasa, Qiangtang, and Nan Shan-Qilian Shan-Altun Shan terranes in Tibet, and platformal strata of the Tarim craton to constrain changes in provenance through time.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Late Paleozoic Ice Age: An Evolving Paradigm

TL;DR: In this paper, a review summarizes evidence for the timing, extent, and behavior of continental ice on Pangea in addition to the climate and ecosystem response to repeated transitions between glacial and interglacial conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI

A review of observations and models of dynamic topography

TL;DR: This paper showed that there is good agreement between published residual topography fields, including the one described here, and present-day dynamic topography predicted from mantle flow models, including a new one, showing peak-to-peak amplitudes of roughly ± 2 km and a dominant degree two pattern with high values for the Pacific Ocean, southern Africa, and the North Atlantic and low values for South America, western North America, and Eurasia.
