High heat-flux accelerator targets: Cooling with liquid metal jet impingement

TLDR
In this article, the authors evaluated the performance of jet impingement for high heat-flux cooling and showed that it is capable of accommodating a heat flux of about 20MW/m 2 over an area of 10 −4 ǫm 2.

Material encapsulation and transport in core-shell micro/nanofibers, polymer and carbon nanotubes and micro/nanochannels

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors review recent work on co-electrospinning of polymer core-shell nanofibers and the manufacture of hollow nanotubes and consider dielectrophoresis in microchannels as a possible tool for the separation of viruses, nanoparticles and macromolecules.
Journal ArticleDOI

Liquid metal cooling in thermal management of computer chips

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present an overall review on chip cooling using liquid metals or their alloys as coolant, and some new advancement in making a liquid metal cooling device will be discussed.

Liquid Metal Phagocytosis: Intermetallic Wetting Induced Particle Internalization.

TL;DR: The model developed here, which uses the macroscopic contact angle between the two metallic phases as a criterion to predict the particle internalization behavior, shows good consistency with experimental results.

Electrical, thermal, and species transport properties of liquid eutectic Ga-In and Ga-In-Sn from first principles

TL;DR: Using ab initio molecular dynamics, the atomic structure and transport properties of eutectic Ga-In and Ga- in-Sn are investigated and new predicted transport-property results are provided.

Boundary layer theory

TL;DR: The flow laws of the actual flows at high Reynolds numbers differ considerably from those of the laminar flows treated in the preceding part, denoted as turbulence as discussed by the authors, and the actual flow is very different from that of the Poiseuille flow.

Evaporation of Acoustically Levitated Droplets

TL;DR: In this paper, an acoustic boundary layer appears near the droplet surface resulting in an acoustic streaming, and the authors derived the time and surface average of the Sherwood and Nusselt number distributions over the surface of a pure liquid droplet.

Cooling of high-power-density microdevices using liquid metal coolants

A. Miner, +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a closed loop system based on liquid metals and liquid metal pumps was proposed to achieve heat transfer coefficients on the order of 10W∕cm2∕K and miniature pumps operating at greater than 8kPa maximum pressure rise and 1% maximum efficiency.
