Increase in chromatin associated nuclease activity of excised barley leaves during senescence and its suppression by kinetin

TLDR
No significant changes in the composition of chromatin were found when the excised barley leaves were floated on water or on kinetin solution in the dark, but increases in the activities ofchromatin associated ribonuclease and deoxyribonucleasing in leaves floated onWater drastically suppressed the increases in these enzymes.

Proteases of senescing oat leaves: I. Purification and general properties.

TL;DR: Two proteases active in the senescing first leaves of oat seedlings (Avena sativa cv. Victory) have been purified approximately 500-fold by a combination of ammonium sulfate precipitation, affinity chromatography on hemoglobin-Sepharose, and ion exchange Chromatography on DEAE-Sephadex.

Isolation from Avena leaf tissues of a nuclease with the same type of specificity towards RNA and DNA accumulation of the enzyme during leaf senescence

TL;DR: The enzyme was shown to be an endonuclease which liberates nucleoside 5′-phosphates from both RNA and DNA and has a pronounced preference for the cleavage of bonds adjacent to adenine in RNA as well as DNA.

Template properties of liver chromatin

TL;DR: Kinetic analysis of the interaction of template and RNA polymerase indicates that the polymer enzyme binds equally well to DNA and to chromatin, but that in the latter, polymerase bound to a portion of the polymerase binding sites is prevented, by the presence of histone, from the execution of the transcription act.

TL;DR: The results of the investigation into the effect of kinetin on the amount of RNA, DNA and chlorophyll, on the rate of incorporation of p32 into RNA and DNA, and on the activity of soluble ribonuclease and deoxyrib onuclease in excised barley leaves are described.

Cytokinins in Plants

TL;DR: It is important to note that cytokinins are also transported through the xylem in intact plants, as cytokinin-like compounds have been detected in the sap of several plants.
