Increased risk of preterm birth for women with inflammatory bowel disease

TLDR
The reproductive histories of 177 women with Crohn's disease and 84 women with ulcerative colitis were compared with those of healthy control subjects and several plausible biological mechanisms that could explain the link between preterm birth and inflammatory bowel disease are suggested.

European evidence based consensus on the diagnosis and management of Crohn's disease: special situations.

TL;DR: The third section of the European Crohn's and Colitis Organisation (ECCO) Consensus on the management of Crohn disease concerns postoperative recurrence, fistulating disease, paediatrics, pregnancy, psychosomatics, extraintestinal manifestations, and alternative therapy.

A Meta-analysis on the Influence of Inflammatory Bowel Disease on Pregnancy

TL;DR: The study has shown a higher incidence of adverse pregnancy outcomes in patients with IBD, who should be treated as a potentially high-risk group.
Journal ArticleDOI

Pregnancy outcomes in women with inflammatory bowel disease: a large community-based study from Northern California.

TL;DR: Women with IBD are more likely to have an adverse outcome related to pregnancy and disease activity and medical treatment did not predict adverse outcomes in a large, nonreferral population.

Regression Models and Life-Tables

TL;DR: The analysis of censored failure times is considered in this paper, where the hazard function is taken to be a function of the explanatory variables and unknown regression coefficients multiplied by an arbitrary and unknown function of time.

A meta-analysis of the role of smoking in inflammatory bowel disease.

TL;DR: There is no justification for health care providers to change the Surgeon General's recommendations on smoking or tobacco use for ulcerative colitis patients specifically and a review of the literature, meta-analysis of selected studies, and assessment of causality criterion suggest that not smoking and ulceratives colitis and smoking and Crohn's disease are consistent with a causal relationship.

The validity of gestational age estimation by menstrual dating in term, preterm, and postterm gestations.

TL;DR: The positive predictive values of the LNMP GA estimates decreased dramatically from term to preterm to postterm, and the systematic errors in menstrual GA estimates have profound implications for unnecessary induction, dysfunctional labor and cesarean section, and resultant neonatal and maternal morbidity.

Use of time to pregnancy to study environmental exposures

TL;DR: To evaluate problems with collecting data on time to pregnancy, telephone interviews were conducted with nearly 700 pregnant women who reported having planned their pregnancies and power curves indicate that relatively small sample sizes are sufficient for investigating an exposure.
