TLDR
This paper focuses specifically to an urban IoT systems that, while still being quite a broad category, are characterized by their specific application domain and are designed to support the Smart City vision.Abstract:
The Internet of Things (IoT) shall be able to incorporate transparently and seamlessly a large number of different and heterogeneous end systems, while providing open access to selected subsets of data for the development of a plethora of digital services. Building a general architecture for the IoT is hence a very complex task, mainly because of the extremely large variety of devices, link layer technologies, and services that may be involved in such a system. In this paper we focus specifically to an urban IoT systems that, while still being quite a broad category, are characterized by their specific application domain. Urban IoTs, in fact, are designed to support the Smart City vision, which aims at exploiting the most advanced communication technologies to support added-value services for the administration of the city and for the citizens.read more

Representing and reasoning with the internet of things: a modular rule-based model for ensembles of context-aware smart things
TL;DR: This work presents Sigma, a language of operators, inspired from modular logic programming, for specifying and reasoning with combined behaviours among smart things in a thing-ensemble, and contends that the operator approach abstracts away low-level communication and protocol details, and allows systems of context-aware things to be designed and built in a compositional and incremental manner.

Device-Aware Rule Recommendation for the Internet of Things
TL;DR: An IoT rule recommendation framework is designed and a novel efficient recommendation algorithm is proposed, which not only considers the implicit feedback of users on rules, but also takes user-rule-device interactions and the match between rule device requirements and user device possessions into account.

Light weight Authentication Framework for WSN
TL;DR: A light weight Authentication Framework which supports node registration, entity authentication, key establishment, new node injection and broadcast authentication of messages diffusing from base towards nodes in WSN without using any digital signature algorithm is presented.

The Security Risk Analysis Methodology for Smart Network Environments
TL;DR: The approach and experience for security risk analysis at the smart network environment is discussed, the character features of the typicalSmart network environment are revised, the existing methods for risks analysis are reviewed and new requirements for the risk analysis method adequate for the new features of a smart digital landscape are offered.

A Cooperative MAC Protocol for a M2M Heterogeneous Area Network
TL;DR: A cooperative MAC protocol is introduced that utilizes a new signaling technique known as the Blank Burst (BB) to avoid the coexistence problem and improves the network QoS of M2M area networks.
