Implementing TQM principles in a construction company in the U.A.E.

Abstract: The thesis is concerned with the implementation of Total Quality Management principles in a construction company in the United Arab Emirates. Three case studies regarding the progress of TQM implementation in the concerned company are highlighting successes, failures and difficulties, and are assessing results through the review of Key Performance Indicators set by the organisation. Progress in TQM implementation is externally confirmed by recognitions granted by a governmental TQM award body. Critical Success Factors, as identified through Total Quality Management literature review, are reviewed in the light of the TQM implementation experience of the company considered, and recommendations and guidelines for similar organisations are drawn from this experience.

Heuristic approaches to solve the fixed-charge transportation problem with discount supposition

TL;DR: A new heuristic along with well-known meta-heuristics are proposed to solve the FCTP with discount supposition on both fixed and variable charges.
Journal ArticleDOI

Modeling and Analysis Strategies for Failure Amplification Method

TL;DR: A general strategy for model building in FAMe is proposed by using generalized linear models (GLM) and the best design settings for improving the process capability are determined through carefully selected GLMs and loss functions.

Making Tradeoffs in Designing Scientific Experiments - A Case Study with Multi-Level Factors

TL;DR: Important statistical questions arise in planning scientific experiments that involve assessing the tradeoffs between the number of runs performed, the selection of experiment factor levels, the ability to estimate effects of different experiment factors, and the degree to which statistical optimality criteria such as orthogonality can be achieved.

Creating Effective Online Customer Experiences

TL;DR: Across 16 experiments, this research investigates how 13 unique design elements shape four dimensions of the online customer experience and thus influence purchase and provides managers with clear strategic guidance on how to build effective web pages.

A treatise on order in engineering design research

TL;DR: A framework of reasoning was constructed, including source, channel, and sink categories of knowledge and research of engineering design, respectively, which enables a grounded argumentation about the order ofengineering design research, as well as about the articulation of the engineering design knowledge.
