TL;DR: In this paper, an element of crystalline material with spatially uniform properties and containing defects such as dislocation lines and loops is considered, and the average deformation gradient for this element is decomposed multiplicatively into terms accounting for effects of dislocation flux, recoverable elastic stretch and rotation, and residual elastic deformation associated with self-equilibrating internal forces induced by defects.

TL;DR: In this paper, a simple ecosystem model consisting of an aquatic food chain with recycling via a bacterial/detrital complex is illustrated using a simple thermodynamic model. But the model is not suitable for the analysis of complex ecosystems.
