Mechanism and observation of Mott transition in VO2-based two- and three-terminal devices

TL;DR: When holes of about 0.018% are induced into a conduction band (breakdown of critical on-site Coulomb energy), an abrupt first-order Mott metal-insulator transition (MIT) was observed on an inhomogeneous VO2 film, a strongly correlated Mott insulator.

Thermochromic VO2 Films Deposited by RF Magnetron Sputtering Using V2O3 or V2O5 Targets.

TL;DR: In this article, thermochromic monoclinic-tetragonal VO2 films were successfully deposited on glass substrates with high reproducibility by rf magnetron sputtering using V2O3 or v2O5 targets.

Topotactic redox reactions of copper(II) and iron(III) salts within VOx nanotubes

TL;DR: In this paper, the intercalation of the transition metal species within the multi-wall structure of the tubes does not significantly affect the overall tubular morphology, but leads to a significant reduction of the inter-layer distance in the multiwalls from 3.02 to 1.05 nm.

New aspects of size-dependent metal-insulator transition in synthetic single-domain monoclinic vanadium dioxide nanocrystals.

TL;DR: This new characterization strategy of in situ variable-temperature IR spectroscopy holds great promise for extending to other systems to gain valuable insight into their intrinsic phase transition behaviors and paves the way for constructing intelligent nanodevices in the near future.

Infrared thermochromic properties of monoclinic VO2 nanopowders using a malic acid-assisted hydrothermal method for adaptive camouflage

TL;DR: In this paper, the phase transition properties of the monoclinic VO2 nanopowders were studied using differential scanning calorimetry, which displayed an obvious phase transition at 67.2 °C with a narrow thermal hysteresis width of 4.9 °C.

The two components of the crystallographic transition in VO2

TL;DR: In this article, two distinguishable mechanisms of the monoclinic-to-tetragonal transition in VO 2 are identified: an antiferroelectric-toparaelectric transition at a temperature T t as well as a change from homopolar to metallic VV bonding at T t.

XPS studies of V2O5, V6O13, VO2 and V2O3

TL;DR: In this article, a detailed XPS study of several oxides of vanadium is reported in an attempt to characterize clearly the surface of these oxides, and several parameters, such as the FWHM of the v2p 3 2 and O1s XPS peaks, their shape and binding energy difference, have been utilized.

Oxide phonon spectra

TL;DR: In this article, an attempt is made to apply group frequency assignment to the vibrational spectra of oxides, and the following oxides are considered: TiO2(both anatase and rutile), SnO2 (cassiterite), ZnO, WO3, CeO2, ThO2 and MoO3.

Factors influencing the temperature-programmed reduction profiles of vanadium pentoxide

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of sample weight and heating rate on the reducibility of V2O5-containing catalysts has been studied as a function of flow rate, heating rate and sample weight.
