Journal ArticleDOI
Propene induced reversible deactivation effects in diesel oxidation catalysts
TL;DR: In this article, a Pt/Pd-based oxidation catalyst experiences a persistent deactivation that can be attributed to the accumulation of propene partial oxidation products on the catalyst surface, which can be reversed by treating the catalyst at higher temperature in a hydrocarbon free atmosphere.
Journal ArticleDOI
One + One-Dimensional Modeling of Monolithic Catalytic Converters
TL;DR: In this paper, a washcoat model was incorporated into monolithic catalyst simulations in order to create a one + one-dimensional framework using a minimum number of parameters, and all assumptions and numerical methods were presented while ensuring the prevention of excessive temperature excursions.
Journal ArticleDOI
The role of computer aided engineering in the design optimization of exhaust after-treatment systems
TL;DR: A set of fundamental CAE tools and the accompanying CAE methodology, aiming to assist the design optimization of catalytic exhaust systems for spark-ignition-engined vehicles, are presented and promising results are demonstrated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Kinetics of the CO+O2 reaction over three-way Pt-Rh catalysts
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors studied the kinetics of the reaction between CO and O2 over bimetallic Pt-Rh/Al2O3 catalysts with a differential fixed bed flow reactor running under reducing conditions (CO/O2>5).
Journal ArticleDOI
Stable solutions for a catalytic converter
Helen M. Byrne,John Norbury +1 more
TL;DR: A coupled system of partial differential equations that describes the evolution of solid and gas temperatures and gas concentration inside a catalytic converter is derived and examined and a constraint relating the system's parameters is derived as a necessary condition for the existence of such solutions.
