Bayesian Model Comparison and Parameter Inference in Systems Biology Using Nested Sampling

TL;DR: It is demonstrated how nested sampling can be used to reverse-engineer a system's behaviour whilst accounting for the uncertainty in the results, and the addition of data from extra variables of the system can deliver more information for model comparison than increasing the data from one variable, thus providing a basis for experimental design.

TL;DR: The coefficient of variation in the extinction time V is found to have a maximum value when the death and birth rates are close in value, and for large habitat size K it is found that Vmax is of order K1/4 / M1/2, which is much larger than unity so long as M is small compared to K 1/2.

Large-Scale Fungicide Spray Heterogeneity and the Regional Spread of Resistant Pathogen Strains

TL;DR: A spatially implicit metapopulation model is used to describe the dynamics of regional spread, in which subpopulations correspond to single fields, and shows that the criterion for the regional invasion of pathogens between fields differs from that for invasion within fields.
