Octupolar metal complexes for quadratic nonlinear optics

TL;DR: In this paper, a large increase in quadratic hyperpolarizability /spl beta/ values (up to 2.10/sup -27/ e.s.u.) was reported for chiral ruthenium complexes upon successive complexation by one, two and three bipyridine derivatives.

A study of molecular adsorption and transport at cell membrane and biologically relevant surfaces by Second Harmonic Generation

TL;DR: An experimental means based on a nonlinear optical phenomenon, Second Harmonic Generation (SHG) has been demonstrated to detect the molecular adsorption and transport through living cell membranes in real time and to evaluate the salt ion effects on adsorptive processes in biologically relevant colloidal systems.
Journal ArticleDOI

Detection of solvent/buried TiO2 surface interactions by intermolecular Fano resonance in resonance hyper-Raman scattering.

TL;DR: The solvent vibrational mode that takes part in Fano resonance can be significantly enhanced with the help of the intense resonance hyper-Raman band of a TiO(2) phonon mode, and this allows us to selectively detect the solvent/surface interactions even from a buried surface.

Harmonic Generation and Long-Range Optical Binding of Aerosols.

Jeremy Moore
TL;DR: In this article, the authors propose a method to improve the quality of the data collected by the data collection system of the National Archives of the United States and the World Wide Web (http://www.worldwideweb.org.

Charge Gradients around Dendritic Voids Cause Nanoscale Inhomogeneities in Liquid Water.

TL;DR: The femtosecond elastic second harmonic scattering (fs-ESHS) of liquid water in comparison to an isotropic liquid (CCl4) and show that water is indeed a nonuniform liquid as discussed by the authors .

Interactions between light waves in a nonlinear dielectric

TL;DR: In this paper, the induced nonlinear electric dipole and higher moments in an atomic system, irradiated simultaneously by two or three light waves, are calculated by quantum-mechanical perturbation theory.

Raman effect of multiple radiation process and its applications in spectroscopy

Yin-yuan Li
- 01 Jan 1964 -
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that with a beam intensity of 0.1 MW/sq cm, the vibrational Raman spectrum of molecules or crystals may be obtained by the three-photon process.
