Modeling of thermal hydraulic instabilities in single heated channel loop during startup transients

TLDR
In this paper, a thermal hydraulics computer code was developed to simulate the geysering instability in a natural circulation system starting from subcooled conditions and to assess the impact of the system pressure and channel inlet subcooling on the inception of instability.

Three-dimensional flow pattern visualization and bubble size distributions in stationary and transient upward flashing flow

TL;DR: In this paper, an experimental three-dimensional reconstruction and visualization of stationary and transient flashing flow in a vertical pipe (47 mm diameter) is presented by means of wire-mesh sensors.

Stability of Natural-Circulation-Cooled Boiling Water Reactors During Startup: Experimental Results

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors studied the characteristics of flashing-induced instabilities, which are of importance during the startup phase of natural-circulation boiling water reactors, and found that increasing pressure has a stabilizing effect, reducing the operational region in which instabilities occur.

Measurements in a low temperature CO2-driven geysering well, viewed in relation to natural geysers

TL;DR: A literature review on natural geysers and geysering flows in engineering plants, such as nuclear reactors and rocket-engine fuel systems, is presented in this paper, where parallels are observed in the development of understanding in these different fields.
