Journal ArticleDOI

Halloysite clay minerals — a review

TL;DR: Halloysite clay minerals are ubiquitous in soils and weathered rocks where they occur in a variety of particle shapes and hydration states as discussed by the authors and diversity also characterizes their chemical composition, cation exchange capacity and potassium selectivity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Functionalization of Halloysite Clay Nanotubes by Grafting with γ-Aminopropyltriethoxysilane

TL;DR: In this paper, surface modification of natural halloysite clay nanotubes with γ-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) was investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Properties and applications of halloysite nanotubes: recent research advances and future prospects

TL;DR: In this article, the key structural characteristics and properties of halloysite and their related applications are comprehensively reviewed, and future prospects and key problems to be solved in Halloysite studies are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Functional polymer–clay nanotube composites with sustained release of chemical agents

TL;DR: Halloysite is a biocompatible material and its simple processing combined with low cost make it a perspective additive for polymeric biocomposites as mentioned in this paper, however, these tubes have smaller diameter and much lower loading capacity for macromolecules.
Journal ArticleDOI

Selective modification of halloysite lumen with octadecylphosphonic acid: new inorganic tubular micelle.

TL;DR: The demonstrated selective fatty acid hydrophobization of the inner surface of tubule halloysite clay is demonstrated, demonstrating that the different inner and outer surface chemistry of clay nanotubes can be used for selective modification, enabling different applications from water purification to drug immobilization and controlled release.
