Pattern formation due to interballoon spatial mode coupling

TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyze new types of transverse interactions in nonlinear-optical systems with a Kerr slice and diffractive feedback, and demonstrate that interactions between the most unstable modes that have wave vectors belonging to different mode instability bands (interballoon interactions) cause the formation of new type of patterns.

Daisy patterns in the passive ring cavity with diffusion effects

TL;DR: In this paper, the formation of seven to fifteen petal daisies, with a top-hat input, and a small diffusion term that controls this daisy-type pattern formation, preventing the usual hexagonal structure to be formed.

Beyond the Mean-Field Model of the Ring Cavity

TL;DR: In this article, a ring cavity device with large diffraction path in the free-space of the cavity was shown to generate a large variety of monoconicaland multiconical patterns with wave and/or Turing modes, for anonlinear medium made of two-level atoms or with a χ (2) crystal.

Four-wave parametric interactions in a strongly driven two-level system

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present an analysis of four-wave parametric amplification resulting from the nonlinear response of a two-level atomic system, which can induce loss or three-photon gain in either weak wave and act to parametrically couple these waves.

Transverse modulational instabilities for counterpropagating beams in Kerr media.

TL;DR: Computed Gaussian-beam results agree well with analytic plane-wave calculations that straddle Raman-Nath and Bragg regimes for counterpropagating waves in Kerr media for both focusing and defocusing nonlinearities.
