A new type of magnetic anisotropy has been discovered which is best described as an exchange anisotropy. This anisotropy is the result of an interaction between an antiferromagnetic material and a ferromagnetic material. The material that exhibits this exchange anisotropy is a compact of fine particles of cobalt with a cobaltous oxide shell. The effect occurs only below the N\'eel temperature of the antiferromagnetic material, which is essentially room temperature for the cobaltous oxide. An exchange torque is inferred to exist between the metal and oxide which has a maximum value at 77\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}K of \ensuremath{\sim}2 dyne-cm/${\mathrm{cm}}^{2}$ of interface.read more

TL;DR: In this article, the authors quantitatively determine the relevant anisotropies and demonstrate that the enhanced coercivity is related to the rotatable uncompensated spins of the magnetization response to a rotating magnetic field.

Progress in oxygen behaviors in two-dimensional thin films
TL;DR: In this article, the effect of oxygen behaviors on the magnetic properties, electrical properties, phase transition, spin-dependent properties and thermal stability of two-dimensional thin films is discussed. And the authors summarize several factors which influence the oxygen behaviors, and generalize the research progress of the mechanism behind the oxygen behavior.

Ferromagnetic Resonance Study of Fe/Cu Multilayer Thin Film
TL;DR: In this article, a computer code was written to simulate the experimental FMR data and to obtain the magnetic parameters of the Fe/Cu/Fe multilayer thin film, including effective magnetisation, uniaxial anisotropy field and perpendicular anisotropic constant from the fitting of the angular dependence of the resonance field at both the in-plane and out-of-plane geometries.

Tuning the exchange bias of soft metallic antiferromagnets by inserting nonmagnetic defects
TL;DR: In this article, the effect of enhancing EB by nonmagnetic defects in high-anisotropy insulating antiferromagnets (AFMs), such as CoO, is tested in low anisotropic metallic AFMs, such as Ni80Fe20∕(Fe50Mn50)1−xCux ferromagnetic/antiferromagnetic (FM/AFM) bilayers, where x is the defect concentration in the AFM, is investigated.
