TLDR
Application of blood plasma/serum fractionation using magnetic beads with a functionalized surface followed by heating of the resultant fractions significantly increases the number of LMW peptides detected by MALDI-TOF MS, enhances the general reproducibility of mass spectrometry profiles and considerably increases theNumber of identified blood serum peptides by LC-MS/MS using an Agilent 6520 Accurate-Mass Q-TOf.

Semi-quantitative analysis of changes in the plasma peptidome of Manduca sexta larvae and their correlation with the transcriptome variations upon immune challenge.

TL;DR: Fat body contributed a significant portion of the plasma polypeptides involved in various aspects of innate immunity after the bacterial injection, as judged by significant changes in normalized spectral counts between the control and induced plasma.

An update for human blood plasma pretreatment for optimized recovery of low-molecular-mass peptides prior to CE–MS and SPE–CE–MS.

TL;DR: Recoveries and repeatability were only optimum after passivating the 10 K Mr cut-off cellulose acetate filters with PEG to avoid peptide adsorption on the inner walls of the plastic sample reservoir.

Proteomic Analysis of Polypeptides Captured from Blood during Extracorporeal Albumin Dialysis in Patients with Cholestasis and Resistant Pruritus

TL;DR: The peptides and proteins absorbed into the MARS strong anion exchange (SAX) cartridges as a result of the treatment of patients with cholestasis and resistant pruritus and confirmed to be removed by the dialysis procedure using targeted selected-reaction monitoring MS/MS.

Mass Spectrometric Sequencing of Proteins from Silver-Stained Polyacrylamide Gels

TL;DR: Silver staining allows a substantial shortening of sample preparation time and may, therefore, be preferable over Coomassie staining, and this work removes a major obstacle to the low-level sequence analysis of proteins separated on polyacrylamide gels.

The Human Plasma Proteome History, Character, and Diagnostic Prospects

TL;DR: This work speculates on the reasons behind this large discrepancy between the expectations arising from proteomics and the realities of clinical diagnostics and suggests approaches by which protein-disease associations may be more effectively translated into diagnostic tools in the future.

Protocol for micro-purification, enrichment, pre-fractionation and storage of peptides for proteomics using StageTips

TL;DR: StageTips are ordinary pipette tips containing very small disks made of beads with reversed phase, cation-exchange or anion-ex exchange surfaces embedded in a Teflon mesh that allow flexible combination of disks with different surfaces to obtain multi-functional tips.
