Noise emitted from road, rail and air traffic and their effects on sleep
TLDR
The equivalent noise level seems to be a suitable predictor for subjectively evaluated sleep quality but not for physiological sleep disturbances, where physiological sleep parameters were most severely affected by rail noise.About:

Predictive Model of Annoyance Induced by Combined Transportation Noise
TL;DR: A series of studies on the subjective response to aircraft, railway, and road traffic noise have previously been carried out as discussed by the authors, however few studies have examined the optimal physical parameters for th...

Pre-Sleep Cognitive Arousal Is Unrelated to Sleep Misperception in Healthy Sleepers When Unexpected Sounds Are Played during Non-Rapid Eye Movement Sleep: A Polysomnography Study
Rachel Sharman,Célyne H. Bastien,M. L. Perl,Mark Wetherell,Nicola L. Barclay,Nayantara Santhi,Jason Ellis,Greg J. Elder +7 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that in healthy sleepers, when ecologically valid noises are played unexpectedly during NREM sleep in an unfamiliar sleep laboratory environment the subjective experience of sleep is not associated with pre-sleep cognitive arousal, or negatively impacted by noise exposure.

Effect of Type and S/N Ratio of Combined Noise Sources on Sleep Disturbance
TL;DR: The results showed that the rate of awakening increased slightly only when the SPL of construction noise was 10 dB higher than that of road traffic noise, and the sleep disturbance was affected by the type of combined noise sources and its S/N ratio.

A Manual of Standardized Terminology, Techniques and Scoring System for Sleep Stages of Human Subjects.
TL;DR: Techniques of recording, scoring, and doubtful records are carefully considered, and Recommendations for abbreviations, types of pictorial representation, order of polygraphic tracings are suggested.
Directive 2003/98/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present technical prescriptions concerning the design and construction of agricultural or forestry tractors, as regards the rollover protection structures, as well as the approximation of the laws of the Member States to enable the EC typeapproval procedure provided for in Directive 2003/37/EC to be applied in respect of each type of tractor.

Annoyance from transportation noise: Relationships with exposure metrics DNL and DENL and their confidence intervals
TL;DR: Better estimates of the confidence intervals due to the improved model of the relationship between annoyance and noise exposure are provided, which is easier to use for practical calculations than the model itself.
