TLDR
This paper attempts to eliminate the assumption that the written text is fixed by presenting a novel algorithm for automatic text-independent writer identification by taking a global approach based on texture analysis, where each writer's handwriting is regarded as a different texture.

Global Regular Network for Writer Identification

Shiyu Wang
- 16 Jan 2022 -
TL;DR: The proposed global regular network (GRN) has two attributions: one is adding a branch to extract features contained in page; the other is using residual attention network to extract local feature.

Writer identification system for Ethiopic handwriting

Daniel Demoze, +1 more
- 01 Jan 2010 -
TL;DR: An off-line text independent Ethiopic writer identification system has been proposed that uses 50 handwritten text blocks collected from 25 volunteers and demonstrates that 93% correct identification, in a hit list of size 3, and 92%, in hit list 1, using codebook of connected component contours, are acquired.

Writer identification with hybrid edge directional features and nonlinear dimension reduction

TL;DR: An effective method to perform writer identification is proposed by extracting edge directional features based on the recently proposed local shape descriptor Pyramid Histogram of Oriented Gradients (PHOG) and a curve fragment feature which can be termed as Histograms of Edge Direction (HED).

Multi-Modal Data Fusion for Person Authentication Based on Improved ENN

Liu Hong
TL;DR: An improved ENN (Nearest-Neighbor with class Exemplars) method is proposed in this paper to fuse fingerprint and voiceprint, and compared with the traditional ENN and KNN (K-NearestNeighbor) , the proposed method obtains further improvement of verification rates.

Text segmentation using Gabor filters for automatic document processing

TL;DR: In this paper, two-dimensional Gabor filters are used to extract texture features for each text region in a given document image, and the text in the document is considered as a textured region.
