TLDR
This paper attempts to eliminate the assumption that the written text is fixed by presenting a novel algorithm for automatic text-independent writer identification by taking a global approach based on texture analysis, where each writer's handwriting is regarded as a different texture.

Chinese Handwriting Identification Based on Stable Spectral Feature of Texture Images

TL;DR: An estimation method for mathematical expectation value of texture image’s spectral features gets stable spectral features and enhances the identification accuracy to a large extent using data sets with large handwriting samples.

Arabic Writer Identification System Using the Histogram of Oriented Gradients (HOG) of Handwritten Fragments

TL;DR: An enhanced approach for writer identification from offline Arabic handwriting samples in text-independent mode is presented where the handwriting is divided into small fragments and each fragment is represented by the histogram of oriented gradients (HOG).

Robust and applicable handwriting biometrics

Axel Brink
TL;DR: In this article, a system for vergelijkbaar handschrift vergeschreven dreigbriefs is presented, in which a systeem voor schrijververificatie is used to verify the vergelijken of two documents.

A bag of notes approach to writer identification in old handwritten musical scores

TL;DR: This paper presents a robust approach for writer identification in a particular kind of graphical documents, old music scores, that adapts the bag of visual terms method for coping with graphic documents.

Handwriting Recognition Accuracy Improvement by Author Identification

TL;DR: In this paper, a two level handwriting recognition concept is presented, where writer identification is used in order to increase handwriting recognition accuracy, and author identification is performed on the upper level, while the lower level consists of a classifiers set trained on samples coming from individual writers.

Text segmentation using Gabor filters for automatic document processing

TL;DR: In this paper, two-dimensional Gabor filters are used to extract texture features for each text region in a given document image, and the text in the document is considered as a textured region.
