TLDR
The results show that at 0 km the samples collected first have the highest content of particulate PGEs and although the general tendency is for the release to decrease with increasing number of samples taken, exceptions are frequent and at 30,000 km the released P GEs in gasoline and diesel catalysts decreased significantly.

Chemical characterization of particulate emissions from diesel engines: A review

TL;DR: In this paper, the chemical properties of particulate matter (PM) in diesel vehicle exhaust at a time when emission regulations, diesel technology development, and particle characterization techniques are all undergoing rapid change are examined.
Journal ArticleDOI

Emissions of Metals Associated with Motor Vehicle Roadways

TL;DR: Emissions of metals and other particle-phase species from on-road motor vehicles were measured in two tunnels in Milwaukee, WI during the summer of 2000 and winter of 2001 and correlations between these elements in PM2.5 indicate that direct brake wear emissions are also important.
Journal ArticleDOI

Platinum group elements in the environment and their health risk.

TL;DR: There is a need to study the effect on human health of long-term chronic exposure to low levels of Pt compounds, as well as the toxicity of biologically available anthropogenic Pt, in diverse environmental matrices.
Journal ArticleDOI

Palladium--a Review of Exposure and Effects to Human Health

TL;DR: In dental patients who are sensitive to Pd, restorations using Pd-containing materials should not be used although Pd has been used without allergic effects in some of these individuals, and those patients who have an allergy to nickel should be informed that use of PD-containing dental materials may cause Pd allergy, though this risk appears to be low.
Journal ArticleDOI

Airborne particulate matter, platinum group elements and human health: a review of recent evidence.

TL;DR: It is concluded that these metals may pose a greater health risk than once thought for several reasons, including that emitted PGE may be easily mobilised and solubilised by various compounds commonly present in the environment, thereby enhancing their bioavailability.

Catalytic automotive exhaust aftertreatment

TL;DR: In this paper, the potential of catalytic systems in automobile emission control is discussed, and a review of the catalytic technology applicable in each case, the operating principles and performance characteristics, durability aspects and considerations regarding the interactions between catalyst performance and engine management are presented.

Encyclopædia of Chemical Technology

Alfred C. Egerton
- 01 Dec 1949 -
TL;DR: The Encyclopaedia of Chemical Technology as discussed by the authors is the first volume of a projected series of ten volumes, two to three volumes being due each year, with the object of the series being to provide an up-to-date survey of the field of chemical technology, partly as a reference for chemists and chemical engineers working in industry, and partly as an aid in training students in modern technology.

Influence of surface area and additives on the thermal stability of transition alumina catalyst supports. I: Kinetic data

TL;DR: In this article, the influence of surface area and additives on the transformation of transition aluminas into alpha alumina was studied using differential thermal analysis and by measuring the rate of transformation by X-ray diffraction of samples calcined at numerous intervals during a 50 hour period.
