Journal ArticleDOI

Gibberellic acid induced parthenocarpic 'Honeycrisp' apples (Malus domestica) exhibit reduced ovary width and lower acidity.

TL;DR: Apple trees sprayed with a plant growth hormone called gibberellic acid develop seedless fruit that show morphological differences explained by changes in gene expression profiles, and show that parthenocarpic Honeycrisp apples are possible, although they exhibit quality differences.
Journal ArticleDOI

'Law Rome' and 'Golden Delicious' apples differ in their response to preharvest and postharvest 1-methylcyclopropene treatment combinations.

TL;DR: Findings suggest that attached apple fruit of some cultivars may be capable of rapidly generating new ethylene receptors as determined by flesh firmness, starch index, internal ethylene concentration, and soluble solids concentration.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of methyl jasmonate treatments on the bioactive compounds and physicochemical quality of 'Fuji' apples

TL;DR: In this paper, the efecto of tratamientos of metilo jasmonato in calidades fitoquimicas and compuestos bioactivos (actividad antioxidante total, fenoles totales, antocianos totales) of the manzana 'Fuji' was investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Effects of Preharvest 1-Methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) Treatment on the Fruit Quality Parameters of Cold-Stored ‘Szampion’ Cultivar Apples

TL;DR: It is concluded, that preharvest 1-MCP application makes it possible not only to obtain better results for ‘Szampion’ cultivar apples’ quality parameters, but also allows delayed harvesting without deterioration in quality.
