TLDR
In this paper, pine wood was pyrolysed in an externally heated fluidised bed pyrolysis reactor with nitrogen as the fluidising gas, the results showed that the oils before catalysis were highly oxygenated, after catalysis the oils were markedly reduced in oxygenated species with an increase in aromatic species, producing a premium grade gasoline type fuel.

Pyrolysis of triglyceride materials for the production of renewable fuels and chemicals.

TL;DR: Research in this area is not as advanced as bio-oil and bio-diesel research and there is opportunity for further study in the areas of reaction optimization, detailed characterization of products and properties, and scale-up.

Catalytic upgrading of biomass pyrolysis vapors using transition metal-modified ZSM-5 zeolite

TL;DR: In this paper, an equilibrium, commercial diluted ZSM-5 catalyst was used as the base case, in comparison with a series of nickel (Ni) and cobalt (Co) modified variants at varying metal loading.

Fast pyrolysis of cassava rhizome in the presence of catalysts

TL;DR: In this paper, a rhizome was catalytically pyrolysed at 500 °C using analytical pyrolysis-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (Py-GC/MS) in order to investigate the effect of catalysts on bio-oil properties.

Catalytic conversion of biomass pyrolysis products by mesoporous materials: Effect of steam stability and acidity of Al-MCM-41 catalysts

TL;DR: In this paper, two mesoporous aluminosilicate MCM-41 materials (Si/Al = 30 or 50) were tested as catalysts for the in situ upgrading of biomass pyrolysis vapours in comparison to a siliceous MCM41 sample and to non-catalytic biomass pyrotechnics.

Upgrading of wood-derived bio-oil over HZSM-5

TL;DR: In this article, the upgrading of a biol-oil obtained by the high-pressure liquefaction of aspen wood was studied over HZSM-5, where a fixed-bed microreactor, operated at atmospheric pressure and in the temperature range 370-410°C was used.
