Characterization of a Previously Unidentified Viral Protein in Porcine Circovirus Type 2-Infected Cells and Its Role in Virus-Induced Apoptosis
TL;DR: Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) is the causative agent of postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome in pigs and transcription and translation of a novel viral gene (termed ORF3) was detected during productive infection of PCV2 in PK15 cells, suggesting that the protein plays a major role in the induction of virus-induced apoptosis.

Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) vaccination of conventional pigs prevents viremia against PCV2 isolates of different genotypes and geographic origins.
TL;DR: The efficacy of a subunit vaccine containing PCV2 capsid protein was evaluated by using a challenge model with four differentPCV2 isolates of different genotype and geographic origin and prevented the development of viremia in all cases as well as significantly decreased nasal and faecal shedding of the virus.

TL;DR: RNA and DNA expression vectors containing genes for chloramphenicol acetyltransferase, luciferase, and beta-galactosidase were separately injected into mouse skeletal muscle in vivo and expression was comparable to that obtained from fibroblasts transfected in vitro under optimal conditions.

TL;DR: Although genomic analysis for the definitive identification of these viral isolates remains to be done, the evidence provided strongly suggests that these tissue isolates are closely related to, although antigenically distinct from, the original PCV cell culture contaminant.
