TLDR
Five silica samples (four precipitated silicas provided by commercial suppliers and one with the MCM-41 structure) have been studied by infrared spectroscopy and by a homemade thermogravimetry-infrared spectrum (TG-IR) setup to determine the integrated molar absorption coefficient of the (nu+delta)OH band and the amount of water adsorbed on silicas through the intensity of the deltaH2O band.

Silica Surface Features and Their Role in the Adsorption of Biomolecules: Computational Modeling and Experiments

TL;DR: Silica Surface Features and Their Role in the Adsorption of Biomolecules: Computational Modeling and Experiments / Albert Rimola;Dominique Costa;Mariona Sodupe;Jean-François Lambert; Piero Ugliengo.

Processing pathway dependence of amorphous silica nanoparticle toxicity: colloidal vs pyrolytic.

TL;DR: This study emphasizes that not all amorphous silicas are created equal and that the unusual toxicity of fumed silica compared to that of colloidal silica derives from its framework and surface chemistry along with its fused chainlike morphology established by high-temperature synthesis and rapid thermal quenching.

FTIR study of CO2 adsorption on amine-grafted SBA-15: Elucidation of adsorbed species

TL;DR: In this paper, in situ infrared spectroscopy was used to study the interaction of CO2 with amine-grafted SBA-15 surfaces to quantify the effect distinct tethered amine moieties have on the chemistry of CO 2 interacting with amines.

Analysing and understanding the active site by IR spectroscopy.

TL;DR: In this critical review the main advances in the field are presented, both under the aspects of the in situ and operando approaches, and a broad view of the most authoritative literature of the domain is given.

A continuous flow strategy for the coupled transfer hydrogenation and etherification of 5-(hydroxymethyl)furfural using Lewis acid zeolites.

TL;DR: It is found that the catalysts undergo a drastic deactivation for the etherification step while maintaining catalytic activity for the transfer hydrogenation step, which can be attributed to changes in the local environment of the metal sites.

Application of large pore MCM-41 molecular sieves to improve pore size analysis using nitrogen adsorption measurements

TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that the Kelvin equation for the hemispherical meniscus, corrected for the statistical film thickness, is in quite good agreement with an experimental relation between the pore size and the capillary condensation pressure.

Standard Nitrogen Adsorption Data for Characterization of Nanoporous Silicas

TL;DR: The nitrogen adsorption isotherm measured at 77 K in the relative pressure range from about 5 × 10-7 to 0.988 for a macroporous silica is reported in a tabular form as discussed by the authors.
