Abstract
This paper reviews existing approaches to system resilience, and proposes a scheme to quantify the resilience of water resource systems. In general, three aspects of resilience are considered in water resource systems: (1) that against crossing a performance threshold; (2) that for response and recovery after disturbances; and (3) that of adaptive capacity. Conventionally these aspects are treated separately without considering possible functional relationships or interdependencies. We argue that the adaptive capacity of the system is better treated as an input variable of the other two aspects of resilience, and that response/recovery may be considered only when the performance threshold is not crossed. Because of the dynamic and evolving nature of water resource systems, proper consideration of uncertainty and associated information, whether obtained from well-defined numerical data or vague linguistic articulation, is essential for better understanding and proper management of their resilience. A novel grid cell–based urban flood resilience metric considering water velocity and duration of system performance being impacted

Jiaxuan Zheng, +1 more
- 01 Dec 2022 -
TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper proposed a novel flood resilience metric that considers the water velocity and duration of system performance being impacted, and evaluated in the Minzhi region of Shenzhen City, China, under different rainfall intensities.

Resilience of hydraulic structures under significant impact of typhoons

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used load/unload response ratio theory to study the resilience of the Yangtze River embankments under the impact of Typhoon Matsa, and the results of the calculated resilience reflect the actual conditions of the structure and can be used to determine the applicability of the embankment section.

Key Sustainability Indicators for Infrastructure Systems: An Australian Perspective

TL;DR: In this article, a pilot questionnaire survey was conducted for gathering data required to identify key sustainability indicators (SI) and to draw upon practitioners' opinions regarding the importance of SI's in assessing sustainability performance of typical infrastructure projects.

Assessing the resilience of potable water supplies in Southeast Queensland, Australia

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined preliminary aspects and theoretical basis of a study into the resilience of the (potable) water supply system in Southeast Queensland (SEQ), an area with one of the most significant urban growth rates in Australia.

An Introduction to Multivariate Statistical Analysis

TL;DR: In this article, the distribution of the Mean Vector and the Covariance Matrix and the Generalized T2-Statistic is analyzed. But the distribution is not shown to be independent of sets of Variates.
