Rheumatic diseases in China.

TLDR
Prevalence of rheumatic diseases in China is comparable with that in Western countries but varies in terms of joint involvement, and the prevalence of ankylosing spondylitis is similar to that in Caucasians.

TL;DR: This study not only advances the understanding of the genetic basis of SLE but also highlights the value of performing GWAS in diverse ancestral populations.

Geoepidemiology and environmental factors of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis

TL;DR: The current literature on the epidemiology and genetics of psoriasis and PsA is reviewed, showing that both diseases have a strong genetic component and environmental risk factors including streptococcal pharyngitis, stressful life events, low humidity, drugs, HIV infection, trauma, smoking and obesity have been associated with them.

Estimates of the prevalence of selected arthritic and musculoskeletal diseases in the United States.

TL;DR: Prevalence in the United States is reported on prevalence rather than incidence because of the difficulty in defining the point of onset and because primary national data sources currently available are concerned with disease prevalence.

Epidemiology of the rheumatic diseases

TL;DR: More recent work in epidemiologic studies of rheumatic diseases has been both substantive in size and focused more on true community-based studies with the consequence that estimates of occurrence in risk obtained are likely to reflect more accurately the true nature of any associations observed.

The epidemiology of systemic lupus erythematosus.

TL;DR: The most important data regarding the incidence and prevalence of systemic lupus erythematosus in the general population, the epidemiologic information on the patterns of disease expression in specific subsets and the studies on mortality in SLE are reviewed.
