TLDR
In this paper, self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) derived from adsorption of nalkanethiols onto the surfaces of copper slow the oxidation of the copper surface by reaction with atmospheric dioxygen.Abstract:
Self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) derived from adsorption of n-alkanethiols onto the surfaces of copper slow the oxidation of the copper surface by reaction with atmospheric dioxygen. Angstrom-level changes in the thickness of the monolayer result in readily observable differences (by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, XPS) in the rates of oxidation of the copper and adsorbed thiolates. The rates of oxidation of the copper and the thiolates can be decreased by ∼50% by increasing the length of the adsorbate, and thus of the SAM, by four CH 2 unitsread more

TL;DR: The direct reduction of disulfides on Si electrodes presents new capabilities for a range of fields, including molecular electronics, for which highly conducting SAM-electrode contacts are necessary and for emerging fields such as biomolecular electronics as disulfide linkages could be exploited to wire proteins between Si electrodes.

TL;DR: In this article, the electrocatalytic activity of a new catalyst toward the oxidation reaction of hydroquinone as a model compound is described, which was formed by immobilizing metal cations on the topside of a gold-5-amino-2-mercaptobenzimidazole, self-assembled monolayer (Au-5A2MBI-M n + SAM, M n + : Cu 2+, Ag + ) electrode.

Synthesis and characterization of hyperbranched amphiphilic block copolymers prepared via self‐condensing RAFT polymerization
TL;DR: In this paper, four families of hyperbranched amphiphilic block copolymers of styrene (Sty, less polar monomer) and 2-vinylpyridine (2VPy, one of the two more polar monomers) were prepared via self-condensing vinyl reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer polymerization (SCVP-RAFT).
