Semi-empirical balance-based computational model of air-cooled condensers with the A-frame layout

TLDR
The comparison of the model with datasheets from manufacturers of ACCs as well as with experimentally gained data from a municipal solid waste incineration plant demonstrates that the semi-empirical model is a fast and accurate tool applicable for the design and thermal assessment of the ACC.

Subregional modulation of axial flow fans to reduce condensate supercooling of air-cooled steam condenser in cold days

TL;DR: In this paper, the subregional modulation strategies of axial flow fans in cold days are studied to reduce the supercooling of condensate in ACSCs as much as possible.
Journal ArticleDOI

Development of a thermofluid network modeling methodology for double-row air-cooled condensers

TL;DR: In this article, a 1-D thermofluid network modelling methodology for air-cooled condensers (ACCs) is presented, which allows for each cell to be modelled individually, accounting for steam duct supply behavior, and for off-design conditions to be investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

The ambient wind impact on eddy current distribution in air cooling island

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of ambient wind on the eddy-current distribution of a 2 × 600 MW direct air-cooling unit in North China was studied. And the authors showed that with increasing ambient speed, the chance of hot-air plume generation increases, resulting in a reduction in heat transfer volume and efficiency.

Fundamentals of Heat and Mass Transfer

TL;DR: This paper introduced the physical effects underlying heat and mass transfer phenomena and developed methodologies for solving a variety of real-world problems, such as energy minimization, mass transfer, and energy maximization.

Air-cooled heat exchangers and cooling towers

TL;DR: The requirement for a small temperature difference between the exhaust steam and the atmosphere while rejecting large quantities of heat to air having a low heat capacity compared with water, poses a challenging technological problem which has resulted in a number of different engineering solutions.

An Improved and Extended General Correlation for Heat Transfer During Condensation in Plain Tubes

Mirza M. Shah
- 01 Sep 2009 -
TL;DR: An improved version of the authors's published correlation (Shah 1979), extended to a wider range of parameters, is presented in this article, which is shown to be in good agreement with data ranging from highly turbulent flows to the laminar flow conditions of Nusselt's analytical solutions.
