Sharing information strategically in a supply chain: antecedents, content and impact

TLDR
In this article, the content of information sharing strategy (ISS) in a supply chain, and specifically how ISS influences supply chain uncertainty and performance, is investigated, and a survey of the Taiwanese manufacturing industry is carried out to test a proposed model.
Abstract
Information sharing has been an important research issue in supply chain management. Although it has been studied frequently, our understanding of sharing information strategically and appropriately remains limited. To fill the gap, this study aims to understand the content of information sharing strategy (ISS) in a supply chain, and specifically how ISS influences supply chain uncertainty and performance. A survey of the Taiwanese manufacturing industry was carried out in order to test a proposed model. Results indicated that ISS includes information sharing and coordination aspects, and that these aspects have a strong impact on reducing supply chain uncertainty and enhancing chain performance. While a supply chain partner must share high-quality information to assist its supply chain partners’ decision-making, it is also clear that a supply chain partner must rely on mutual adjustment and formalised inter-organisational processes to cope with demands. Future research directions and contributions to the...

Developing a conceptual model for examining the supply chain relationships between behavioural antecedents of collaboration, integration and performance

TL;DR: A conceptual model with theoretical basis on Relational Exchange Theory (RET) and extant supply chain theory is developed as a causal model that can be operationalised using structural equations modelling and a “single key informant” approach.

Integrated supply chain risk management: a systematic review

TL;DR: In this paper, a systematic literature review of integrated supply chain risk management (ISCRM) that connects supply chain integration (SCI) with risk management is presented, and a contingency analysis is applied to detect association patterns and links between category items.

Improving supply chain information sharing using Design for Six Sigma

TL;DR: In this article, an action research, case study approach used the Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodology to design an information technology solution that effectively communicates information between the layers within the supply chain regarding the movement of materials via inland tank barges.

Examination of effect of information sharing on businesses performance in the supply chain process

TL;DR: An attempt to determine the effect of information sharing in the supply chain process (SCP) on cost, financial and business performance, in general, was made by means of a measuring tool which is based on a theoretical approach.

Critical factors affecting information sharing in supply chains

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors empirically examine a comprehensive list of factors that are anticipated to affect information sharing in supply chains in the context of a landlocked developing country, in order to evaluate the impact of these factors on information sharing.

The dyadic capabilities concept: examining the processes of key supplier involvement in collaborative product development

TL;DR: In this article, an analysis of supplier collaboration in the development process is deployed to support the development of a dyadic (or two-level) capabilities analysis of the strategic management of the innovation process.

The impact of alignment between supply chain strategy and environmental uncertainty on SCM performance

TL;DR: In this paper, a profile deviation approach was applied to compute the alignment between SC strategy and environmental uncertainty, and the results of the study verify that the alignment is positively associated with SCM performance.

The impact of coercive and non-coercive forms of influence on trust, commitment, and compliance in supply chains

TL;DR: In this paper, a model of how influence strategies affect relational elements, specifically trust and commitment, which both promote strong inter-firm relationships and act as mediators of joint action, is presented.

A Structural Approach to Measuring Uncertainty in Supply Chains

TL;DR: A structural approach is used to measure supply-chain uncertainty and the results produce a validated uncertainty scale that can help in diagnosing supply- chain problems and be incorporated into a performance-evaluation scheme for e-commerce systems.
