Statistical analysis of the time-course of Biolog substrate utilization

TLDR
Two methods for examining growth of a microbial community on a particular Biolog substrate using cluster analysis and principal coordinate analysis and an analysis of summary statistics of the profiles, to identify substrates whose profiles distinguish different treatments are described.

Ecosystem response of pasture soil communities to fumigation-induced microbial diversity reductions: an examination of the biodiversity-ecosystem function relationship

TL;DR: Although fumigation reduced soil microbial biodiversity, there was evidence to suggest that it selected for organisms with particular physiological characteristics, and specific functional parameters may be a more sensitive indicator of environmental change than general parameters.
Journal ArticleDOI

Analysis of microbial community functional diversity using sole-carbon-source utilisation profiles - a critique.

TL;DR: The basis of the approach is summarised, including type of plate to use, treatment of samples, replication, incubation conditions, monitoring of plates, and statistical analysis, and methodological difficulties are considered.
Journal ArticleDOI

Methods for assessing the composition and diversity of soil microbial communities

TL;DR: The development of effective methods for studying the diversity, distribution, and behavior of microorganisms in soil habitats is essential for a broader understanding of soil health.
Journal ArticleDOI

Impact of Protozoan Grazing on Bacterial Community Structure in Soil Microcosms

TL;DR: The composition ofprotozoan communities is important for the effect of protozoan grazing on bacterial communities, and size-selective feeding may explain some but not all of the changes in bacterial community structure.
Journal ArticleDOI

An examination of the biodiversity-ecosystem function relationship in arable soil microbial communities

TL;DR: The biodiversity of, and inter-relationships within, the microbial communities was such that the experimental reductions had no direct effects on soil function.

Analysis of longitudinal data

TL;DR: In this paper, a generalized linear model for longitudinal data and transition models for categorical data are presented. But the model is not suitable for categric data and time dependent covariates are not considered.
Journal ArticleDOI

Analysis of Longitudinal Data.

TL;DR: Van Der Heijden et al. as discussed by the authors used correspondence analysis for the analysis of transitions between more than two time points, where the transition matrix is the product of the margins of the table divided by the total sample size.
Journal ArticleDOI

Classification and characterization of heterotrophic microbial communities on the basis of patterns of community-level sole-carbon-source utilization.

TL;DR: Intensive spatial and temporal analysis of microbial communities with this technique can produce ecologically relevant classifications of heterotrophic microbial communities.

Analysis of Repeated Measures

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a simple analysis of individual times response feature analysis and individual curve fitting for polynomial trends Manova, and two-stage linear models: random regression coefficients estimation and testing particular aspects examples.
