Development of Magnetic Nanostructured Silica-Based Materials as Potential Vectors for Drug-Delivery Applications

TL;DR: In this article, the authors synthesize metallic iron nanoparticles within micron-sized mesoporous molecular sieves and hollow silica microcapsules (pores of 2.7 and 15 nm) using several cycles of wet impregnation under vacuum, followed by drying, oxidation, and reduction steps.

“Nanocasting”: Using SBA-15 Silicas as Hard Templates to Obtain Ultrasmall Monodispersed γ-Fe2O3 Nanoparticles

TL;DR: The use of mesoporous SBA-15 silicas as hard templates for the size-controlled synthesis of oxide nanoparticles, with the pores acting as nanoscale reactors, is described, aimed at understanding unresolved issues concerning the occurrence and size dependence of phase transitions in oxide nanocrystals.

Cooperative Formation of Inorganic-Organic Interfaces in the Synthesis of Silicate Mesostructures

TL;DR: Model Q230 proposed by Mariani and his co-workers satisfactorily fits the x-ray data collected on the cubic mesostructure material and suggests that the silicate polymer forms a unique infinite silicate sheet sitting on the gyroid minimal surface and separating the surfactant molecules into two disconnected volumes.
