TLDR
In this article, the authors investigated the kinetic effect of specific adsorption interactions on the chemical reduction of uranyl (UVIO22+) by ferrous iron, and derived a rate law for surface-catalyzed U(VI) reduction by Fe(II), d[U(VI)] dt =−k[≡ Fe III OFe II OH 0 ][U( VI)] ads where the bimolecular rate constant k has a value of 399 ± 25 M−1 min−1 at 25°C.About:

Ecology of neutrophilic iron-oxidizing bacteria in wetland soils
TL;DR: Novel findings are described about the occurrence of neutrophilic iron-oxidizing bacteria in a number of wetland ecosystems in the delta area of the Netherlands and Belgium, by characterizing the distribution of FeOB in various wetlands and by enriching and isolating these organisms.
Redox chemistry, solubility and hydrolysis of uranium in dilute to concentrated salt systems
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the role of U(IV) and U(VI) in controlling the solubility and solution chemistry of uranium in reducing, alkaline to hyperalkaline pH conditions, and the results summarized in Chapter 3 of this PhD thesis.

Metal (U, Fe, Mn, Hg) Cycling
TL;DR: Uranium Cycle and Mercury Cycle as discussed by the authors ] are two types of cyclists. Butranium cycling is more stable than Mercury Cycle. And Mercury Cycle is faster. Butiron cycling is less stable.

Interactions cations - argiles : le cas du Fe(II). Application au contexte de stockage profond des déchets radioactifs
TL;DR: In this article, the authors propose an adaption specifique of Fe2+ adsorbe on the surfaces of bordure of a montmorillonite, which is used to model the structure of the interface argiles.
Journal ArticleDOI
Iron phosphonate for highly efficient capture of U(VI) from acidic solution.
TL;DR: In this article, a novel, high surface area iron phosphonate (IP) for highly efficient adsorption of uranyl ion in acidic medium was described, and the as-prepared IP was amorphous with its specific surface area and total pore volume as high as 268 m2/g and 1.04 cm3/g, respectively.
