TLDR
In this article, the authors investigated the kinetic effect of specific adsorption interactions on the chemical reduction of uranyl (UVIO22+) by ferrous iron, and derived a rate law for surface-catalyzed U(VI) reduction by Fe(II), d[U(VI)] dt =−k[≡ Fe III OFe II OH 0 ][U( VI)] ads where the bimolecular rate constant k has a value of 399 ± 25 M−1 min−1 at 25°C.About:

Mechanism of uranium fixation by zero valent iron: the importance of co-precipitation
TL;DR: In this article, the co-precipitation of U (VI) with iron corrosion products from aqueous solutions by zero valent iron was investigated, and it was demonstrated by conducting experiments with well characterized scrap iron, pyrite and a mixture of both materials with experimental durations of up to four months.
Journal ArticleDOI
NeptuniumV retention by siderite under anoxic conditions: Precipitation of NpO2-like nanoparticles and of NpIV pentacarbonate.
TL;DR: The low solubility of these NpO2-like nanoparticles, along with their negligible surface charge at neutral pH conditions which favors particle aggregation, suggest an efficient retention of Np in the near-field of radioactive waste repositories.
Journal ArticleDOI
Abiotic subsurface behaviors of As(V) with Fe(II)
TL;DR: The results of this study demonstrate that As(V) is relatively stable in the presence of Fe(II) under subsurface environment and interfere the oxidation ofFe(II).
Journal ArticleDOI
Fracture smectite as a long-term sink for natural radionuclides - indications from unusual U-series disequilibria
TL;DR: In this article, the U-234/U-238 activity ratio (AR) measured in the bulk U and in its sequentially extracted phases, displays unusually low value (around 0.30).

Solutions, Minerals and Equilibria
Robert M. Garrels,C. L. Christ +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors provide a thorough, up-to-date coverage of controls on the chemical quality of surface and ocean waters. But they do not provide a detailed analysis of the results of their experiments.

Uranium solution-mineral equilibria at low temperatures with applications to sedimentary ore deposits
TL;DR: The Gibbs free energies, enthalpies and entropies of 42 dissolved uranium species and 30 uranium-bearing solid phases have been critically evaluated from the literature and estimated when necessary for 25°C.
