TLDR
A genetical mathematical model is described which allows for interactions between relatives on one another's fitness and a quantity is found which incorporates the maximizing property of Darwinian fitness, named “inclusive fitness”.About:

Estimation of relatedness by DNA fingerprinting.
TL;DR: It is shown that unbiased estimates of relatedness cannot be obtained at the individual level without knowledge of the allelic distributions in both the individuals of interest and the base population unless the proportion of shared marker alleles between unrelated individuals is essentially zero.
Journal ArticleDOI
A simple and general explanation for the evolution of altruism.
TL;DR: It is illustrated that while kinship or genetic similarity among those interacting may generate a favourable structure of interaction environments, it is not a fundamental requirement for the evolution of altruism, and even suicidal aid can theoretically evolve without help ever being exchanged among genetically similar individuals.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Emanuel Miller Memorial Lecture 2006: Adoption as intervention. Meta-analytic evidence for massive catch-up and plasticity in physical, socio-emotional, and cognitive development
TL;DR: Although catch-up with current peers was incomplete in some developmental domains, adopted children largely outperformed their peers left behind and can be justified on ethical grounds if no other solutions are available.
Journal ArticleDOI
Facial resemblance enhances trust
TL;DR: The effects of an experimental manipulation of facial resemblance in a two–person sequential trust game raised the incidence of trusting a partner, but had no effect on the incidenceOf selfish betrayals of the partner's trust.
BookDOI
The evolution of parental care
TL;DR: Evidence is provided that the dynamic nature of family interactions, and particularly the potential for co-evolution among family members, has contributed to the great diversity of forms of parental care and life-histories across as well as within taxa.

Animal dispersion in relation to social behaviour
TL;DR: Wynne-Edwards has written this interesting and important book as a sequel to his earlier (1962) Animal Dispersion in Relation to Social Behaviour, and reviewing it has proven to be a valuable task for one who normally is only at the periphery of the group selection controversy.
