TLDR
In this paper , the authors investigated the effects of NaHCO3 on coal dust explosion by employing a simultaneous thermal analyzer and a standard 20-L spherical chamber, and the results demonstrated that the thermal decomposition temperature of coal dust was increased and the thermal deformation rate, maximum heat flow, and heat release were decreased after the addition of NaHCO3.

Sound absorption characteristics of loose bituminous coal porous media with different metamorphic degrees

TL;DR: In this paper , the stacking structural characteristics of loose coal were studied by industrial computerized tomography and the sound absorption coefficient of coal was tested based on a sound absorption test system, and the results revealed that with the increase of particle size, the voids became larger and the connectivity became better.
Journal ArticleDOI

Oxygen distribution and gaseous products change of coal fire based upon the semi-enclosed experimental system

TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper established a semi-closed experimental system to determine the high-temperature zone of coal spontaneous combustion (CSC), which is the combustion of the outcrop or shallow part of a coal seam due to long-term oxidation or artificial factors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Explosion Flame and Pressure Characteristics of Nonstick Coal Dust and the Inhibition of Explosion Suppressants

TL;DR: In this paper, the suppression effect of SiO2, KCl, and NH4H2PO4 on the explosion of non-stick coal dust was analyzed, and it was concluded that the maximum propagation distance of a coal dust explosion flame was 0.59m, the maximum pressure is 0.63
Journal ArticleDOI

Inhibiting effects investigation of pulverized coal explosion using melamine cyanurate

TL;DR: In this article , the inhibition capacity of melamine cyanurate (MCA) on pulverized coal explosion was investigated and the results demonstrated that the maximum mass loss rate and heat release of the pulverised coal oxidation decreased with the mass fraction of MCA increasing.
Journal ArticleDOI

Inhibiting effect investigation of ammonium dihydrogen phosphate on oxidative pyrolysis characteristics of bituminous coal

TL;DR: In this article , the effect of ammonium dihydrogen phosphate (ADP) on the free radical reaction of bituminous coal (YM) was investigated by combining experimental methods with theoretical calculation methods.

Dust explosions in spherical vessels: The role of flame thickness in the validity of the ‘cube-root law’

TL;DR: In this article, a three-zone model was developed for the pressure evolution of confined dust explosions in spherical vessels which takes the flame thickness into account, and it was shown by numerical simulations that the maximum rate of pressure rise can be normalized with respect to the vessel volume as well as to flame thickness and that the cube-root law becomes inaccurate for relative flame thicknesses exceeding 1%.
Journal ArticleDOI

An experimental approach to selecting chemical inhibitors to retard the spontaneous combustion of coal

TL;DR: In this paper, the distributions and concentrations of functional groups on coal surfaces were analyzed using in situ FTIR, and the active functional groups and their oxidation processes were elucidated so as to develop an efficient approach to selecting effective chemical inhibitors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of particle size, dust concentration and dust-dispersion-air pressure on rock dust inertant requirement for coal dust explosion suppression in underground coal mines

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of important parameters, such as, dust particle size, dust concentration and dust-dispersion-air pressure on rock dust inertant requirement for suppressing coal dust explosion using a Godbert-Greenwald (GG) furnace were examined.

Flame inhibition of aluminum dust explosion by NaHCO3 and NH4H2PO4

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated the inhibition capacity of NaHCO3 and NH4H2PO4 on the flame in aluminum dust explosions, using a high-speed camera for measurement of flame propagation behaviors and a thermocouple for measuring of flame temperatures.
