The interaction of sodium dodecyl sulfate with gelatin

TLDR
In this article, the surface tension of aqueous SDS/gelatin mixtures was measured at pH 7 and compared with comparable precipitation data obtained at pH 4.1 indicates that the compositions of the complexes formed above and below the isoelectric point are quite similar.

1H NMR, Surface Tension, Viscosity, and Volume Evidence of Micelle−Polymer Hydrophobic Interactions: LiPFN−PVP System†

TL;DR: In this article, NMR spectra reveal that the amphiphile links to the polymer chains by hydrophobic interactions with the pyrrolidone functional group of the polymer, causing a significant change in the PVP structure.

The Use of Polymers in Cosmetic Products

TL;DR: The physical inner workings of polymeric ingredients in cosmetics rather than to list a litany of all of the polymers are described in this article. But the focus of this review is to enable the reader to understand the basic mechanisms, fundamental processes, and critical limits that underpin performance, and thereby to apply the knowledge gained across a wide swath of existing polymers.

Surfactants: Static and Dynamic Surface Tension

TL;DR: This chapter focuses on applications of surfactants in liquid film coating processes, and in particular in coatings involving aqueous solutions, as encountered in the photographic industry.

Protein/surfactant interfacial interactions part 1. Flocculation of emulsions containing mixed protein + surfactant

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of interactions of positively charged gelatin and anionic surfactant sodium lauryl ether sulphate (SLES 2EO) with negatively charged β-lactoglobulin in solutions and emulsions has been studied.
Journal ArticleDOI

Protein/surfactant interfacial interactions paet 2. Electrophoretic mobility of mixed protein + surfactant systems

TL;DR: In this paper, the interaction between oppositely charged β-lactoglobulin and gelatin has been studied under neutral pH conditions, showing that the presence of cationic gelatin has no significant effect on the observed mobility behavior of the emulsion droplets.

The interaction of sodium dodecyl sulfate with polyethylene oxide

TL;DR: In this article, the interaction of sodium dodecyl sulfate with polyethylene oxide has been investigated by measurements of conductance, surface tension, and viscosity, and the plots of surface tension and conductance as a function of the SDS concentration show two transition points.

Synthetic Protein Fibers from Protein-Detergent Complexes:

TL;DR: In this article, the authors consider the possibility of reconstructing natural protein fibers into fibers having new and specialized uses, such as yarn, wool, silk, and hair, using synthetic protein fibers.
