The interaction of sodium dodecyl sulfate with gelatin

TLDR
In this article, the surface tension of aqueous SDS/gelatin mixtures was measured at pH 7 and compared with comparable precipitation data obtained at pH 4.1 indicates that the compositions of the complexes formed above and below the isoelectric point are quite similar.

Energetic and conformational changes upon complexation of gelatin with sodium dodecyl sulfate

TL;DR: The results show that the exothermic binding process is driven by both electrostatic and hydrophobic interaction.
Journal ArticleDOI

The influence of surfactants on the structure of transparent gelatin films

TL;DR: In this article, the interference image of cold-dried transparent gelatin films containing different surfactants was determined in the conoscopic ray of monochromatic light and the order of the structure of gelatin in the film was characterized.
Journal ArticleDOI

Steric Exclusion Behavior of Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate at Pressures up to 50,000 psi

TL;DR: The monomer-micelle equilibrium of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) has been examined by steric exclusion chromatography as a function of pressure as mentioned in this paper, and conditions for the high-pressure work were explored at atmospheric pressure using both frontal analysis and conventional chromatography.
Journal ArticleDOI

Formation and aggregation number of sodium dodecyl sulphonate-polyvinylpyrrolidone aggregates

TL;DR: The interaction of surfactants with water-soluble polymers has been an active subject for many years as mentioned in this paper and early investigations were mainly concerned with the effect of synthetic detergents on natural proteins, such as gel.
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of gelatin–sodium stearoyl lactylate interaction on the rheological properties of gelatin gels

TL;DR: In this article, conductometry and tensiometry were applied to define a region of gelatin-SSL interaction, defined as concentration at which SSL molecules start to form aggregates with gelatin molecules, and psp at which interaction finishes.

The interaction of sodium dodecyl sulfate with polyethylene oxide

TL;DR: In this article, the interaction of sodium dodecyl sulfate with polyethylene oxide has been investigated by measurements of conductance, surface tension, and viscosity, and the plots of surface tension and conductance as a function of the SDS concentration show two transition points.
Journal ArticleDOI

Synthetic Protein Fibers from Protein-Detergent Complexes:

TL;DR: In this article, the authors consider the possibility of reconstructing natural protein fibers into fibers having new and specialized uses, such as yarn, wool, silk, and hair, using synthetic protein fibers.
