In this pioneering study, the authors deal with the nature and theory of meaning and present a new, objective method for its measurement which they call the semantic differential. This instrument is not a specific test, but rather a general technique of measurement that can be adapted to a wide variety of problems in such areas as clinical psychology, social psychology, linguistics, mass communications, esthetics, and political science. The core of the book is the authors' description, application, and evaluation of this important tool and its far-reaching implications for empirical research.read more

Fuzzy Relational Products as a Tool for Analysis and Synthesis of the Behaviour of Complex Natural and Artificial Systems
TL;DR: In this paper, the consequences of changes in all these systems, to analyze them, to understand their dynamics, to influence their behaviour, make it increasingly difficult to understand the consequences.

TL;DR: In this article, a review article provides an overview of the efforts made on tackling this demanding task and discusses how these findings can be synthesized in computer graphics and can be utilized in the domains of Human-Robot Interaction and Human-Computer Interaction for allowing humans to interact with virtual agents and other artificial entities.

Co-occurrence vectors from corpora vs. distance vectors from dictionaries
Yoshiki Niwa,Yoshihiko Nitta +1 more
TL;DR: Experimental results suggest that distance vectors contain some different semantic information from co-occurrence vectors, compared with other experimental results, which suggest that word sense disambiguation is affected by distance vectors.
