The processing of Panax notoginseng and the transformation of its saponin components
TLDR
In this paper, HPLC analyses on saponin composition of processed notoginseng were conducted, which revealed that, during the steaming process, the five main ginsenosides (ginsenosides Rg(1), Rb-1, Rd, and Re, and notogsenoside R-1) decreased gradually and some other new saponins were formed.About:

Saponins of Panax notoginseng: chemistry, cellular targets and therapeutic opportunities in cardiovascular diseases
TL;DR: This review summarizes and critically appraise the latest literature, which study PNS as potential therapeutic agents against CVDs, and introduces the structures of major PNS types, analyze their cellular targets and associated signaling pathways and discuss the emerging opportunities for their clinical applications.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluation of the anti-myocardial ischemia effect of individual and combined extracts of Panax notoginseng and Carthamus tinctorius in rats.
TL;DR: The findings suggest EPN combined with ECT may be therapeutically more useful for ameliorating anti-myocardial ischemia injuries than individual herbal extract, and EPN 50mg/kg plus ECT 200mg/ kg is the appropriate combination in the present research.

Pretreatment of baicalin and wogonoside with glycoside hydrolase: A promising approach to enhance anticancer potential
Chunhao Yu,Zhiyu Zhang,Haijiang Zhang,Zhong Zhen,Tyler Calway,Yunwei Wang,Chun-Su Yuan,Chong-Zhi Wang +7 more
TL;DR: This study used glycosidase to catalyze flavonoids in S. baicalensis to enhance the herb’s anticancer activities and observed that the higher the aglycon content, the stronger the antiproliferation effects.

Anticarcinogenic effect of Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer and identification of active compounds.
TL;DR: Korean investigators carried out extensive long-term anticarcinogenicity experiments with 2000 newborn mice to investigate whether Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer inhibited carcinogenesis induced by several chemical carcinogens in 1978, and found Ginsenoside Rg3, Rg5 and Rh2 were found to be active anticarc inogenic compounds.

Neuroprotective effect of 20(S)-ginsenoside Rg3 on cerebral ischemia in rats.
Jingwei Tian,Fenghua Fu,Meiyu Geng,Yongtao Jiang,Jianxiong Yang,Wanglin Jiang,Chaoyun Wang,Ke Liu +7 more
TL;DR: Findings suggest that 20(S)-ginsenoside Rg3 might provide neuroprotection against the cerebral ischemia-induced injury in rat brain through reducing lipid peroxides, scavenging free radicals and improving the energy metabolism.

Experimental and epidemiological evidence on non-organ specific cancer preventive effect of Korean ginseng and identification of active compounds.
TL;DR: Results strongly suggest that Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer cultivated in Korea is a non-organ specific cancer preventive against human cancers and also indicated that the anticarcinogenicity or human cancer preventive effect of Panaxginseng is due to ginsenoside Rg(3), RG(5) and Rh(2).

Phytochemical and analytical studies of Panax notoginseng (Burk.) F.H. Chen
TL;DR: Fifty-six saponins from notoginseng were isolated and elucidated, and it was demonstrated that no oleanane-type saponin, which exists in Asian ginseng (Panaxginseng) and American ginseneng ( Panax quinquefolius), was found.
