The redox state of cytochrome b559 in spinach chloroplasts

TLDR
Spinach chloroplasts suspended in a mixture of redox buffers were titrated under anaerobic conditions by adding small amounts of oxidant (potassium ferricyanide) or reductant (reduced methyl viologen) to determine the extent of the low temperature light-induced reduction of C-550 and oxidation of cytochrome b 559.

Changes in electrophoretic mobility of a chloroplast membrane polypeptide associated with the loss of the oxidizing side of photosystem II in low fluorescent mutants of Scenedesmus

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that specific low fluorescent yield, non-photosynthetic mutants of the green alga, Scenedesmus obliquus Da, which lack photolysis ability are demonstrated.

Q400, the non-heme iron of the photosystem II iron-quinone complex. A spectroscopic probe of quinone and inhibitor binding to the reaction center

TL;DR: In this article, a high-potential electron acceptor associated with Photosystem II (PS II) of oxygenic photosynthesis, originally described by Ikegami and Katoh [3], has recently been identified by Petrouleas and Diner [8] as the non-heme iron of the iron-quinone complex of the PS II reaction center.

Cooperation of charges in photosynthetic o2 evolution–i. a linear four step mechanism

TL;DR: The evolution of O2 in weak light and light flashes is studied to analyze the interactions between light induced O2 precursors and their decay in darkness and the data are compatible with a linear four step mechanism in which a trapping center successively accumulates four + charges.

Photoreduction and photophosphorylation with tris-washed chloroplasts.

TL;DR: Experiments with the tris-washed chloroplasts indicated that electron donors preferentially donate electrons to photosystem II but in the presence of DCMU the donors (with the exception of PD at low concentrations) could also supply electrons after the DCMU block.

The relationship between Q, C-550 and cytochrome b 559 in photoreactions at −196° in chloroplasts

TL;DR: In this article, the authors measured the redox potential of the chloroplast suspension of spinach chloroplasts with red light at −196° and showed that the titration curves for all three changes were essentially the same and showed the same midpoint potential.

Light-induced absorbance changes of two cytochrome b components in the electron-transport system of spinach chloroplasts.

TL;DR: It is concluded that cytochrome b-563 is reduced by Photosystem 1 and that cy to chrome b-560 is in the electron transport chain between Photosystems 1 and 2.
