TL;DR: E1224 displayed a transient, suppressive effect on parasite clearance, whereas benznidazole showed early and sustained efficacy until 12 months of follow-up, and despite PCR limitations, the results support increased diagnosis and treatment-emergent adverse events.

TL;DR: The first results indicate that benznidazole is effective in inducing a marked and sustained reduction in the circulating parasites’ level in the majority of these patients, but adverse effects can lead to treatment discontinuation in 10–20% of cases.
