Truncated VP28 as oral vaccine candidate against WSSV infection in shrimp: an uptake and processing study in the midgut of Penaeus monodon

TLDR
The nearly identical uptake pattern of the different WSSV-antigens suggests that receptors on the apical membrane of shrimp enterocytes recognize rec-VP28 efficiently, and the truncated VP28 can be considered suitable for oral vaccination, when the digestion in the foregut can be bypassed.

The invertebrate midintestinal gland ("hepatopancreas") is an evolutionary forerunner in the integration of immunity and metabolism.

TL;DR: It is shown that mollusks and crustaceans integrate immune functions to a metabolic organ, the midintestinal gland (“hepatopancreas”), and that immunity was the primary function of the mid gastrointestinal gland cells and that their role in the intermediate metabolism has evolved during the course of their further specialization.

VP24 Is a Chitin-Binding Protein Involved in White Spot Syndrome Virus Infection

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that WSSV virions can bind to chitin through one of the major envelope proteins (VP24) through the envelope protein VP24, indicating that binding of W SSV to ch itin through the viral envelope proteinVP24 is essential for WSSVs per os infection.

Vaccination trials against vibriosis in shrimp: A review

TL;DR: A review discusses the researches that have been carried out toward vaccine development against vibriosis in shrimp and its potential and recommends a detailed and thorough study to further understand its potential.

Protein profiling in the gut of Penaeus monodon gavaged with oral WSSV-vaccines and live white spot syndrome virus.

TL;DR: Changes in the expression levels of crustacyanin, serine proteases, myosin light chain, and ER protein 57 observed in orally vaccinated shrimp may probably be linked to immunoprotective responses and altered expression of proteins linked to exoskeleton, calcium regulation and energy metabolism in WSSV‐intubated shrimps is likely to symbolise disturbances in calcium homeostasis andenergy metabolism.

White spot syndrome baculovirus (WSBV) detected in cultured and captured shrimp, crabs and other arthropods

TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper evaluated the effect of 2-step amplification with nested primers on the sensitivity of WSBV diagnostic PCR and found that the sensitivity was 10" to 10" times higher than that of l-step PCR.

Antigen Retrieval Immunohistochemistry: Past, Present, and Future

TL;DR: The antigen retrieval technique, which is predominantly based on high-temperature heating of tissues, is used as a non-enzymatic pretreatment for immunohistochemical staining of formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections.
