Two-Stage DEA: An Application to Major League Baseball
TLDR
In this article, the authors use DEA to model DMUs that produce in two stages, with output from the first stage becoming input to the second stage, and apply the model to Major League Baseball, demonstrating its advantages over a standard DEA model.Abstract:
We show how to use DEA to model DMUs that produce in two stages, with output from the first stage becoming input to the second stage. Our model allows for any orientation or scale assumption. We apply the model to Major League Baseball, demonstrating its advantages over a standard DEA model. Our model detects inefficiencies that standard DEA models miss, and it can allow for resource consumption that the standard DEA model counts towards inefficiency. Additionally, our model distinguishes inefficiency in the first stage from that in the second stage, allowing managers to target inefficient stages of the production process.read more

Two-stage DEA models with fairness concern: Modelling and computational aspects
TL;DR: This paper studies how one behavioral factor, fairness concern, impacts decision making unit (DMU) by proposing new utility-based two-stage DEA models to analyse the non-cooperative and cooperative modes to better understand the impacts of fairness concern on DMUs.

Evaluation of the efficacy and effectiveness of the Spanish security forces
TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the effectiveness and efficiency of Spanish police forces concerning major crimes in the 2001-2006 period, using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) to study their efficacy, defined as the ratio between solved crimes and tasks, and goals efficacy.
Evaluating transit operator efficiency: An enhanced DEA model with constrained fuzzy-AHP cones
TL;DR: The proposed model is designed to better capture inherent preferences information over input and output indicators by adding constraint cones to the conventional DEA model and is more applicable in evaluating transit operator's efficiency thus encouraging a boarder range of applications.

TL;DR: It is found that the decomposition of production into subproduction processes reduces the dimensions of problem specification, with the effect that a larger number of variables may be usefully included in the model.
