Nitrogen cycle electrocatalysis.

TL;DR: The denitrification pathway in this cycle, that is, the conversion of nitrate to dinitrogen, is employed by certain bacteria to produce ATP anaerobically and gain energy for cell growth.
Journal ArticleDOI

Electrochemical nitrogen fixation and utilization: theories, advanced catalyst materials and system design.

TL;DR: Electrochemical techniques for nitrogen fixation and transformation under mild conditions are promising approaches to meet the challenge of efficiently managing and balancing the nitrogen cycle, where the rational design of advanced electrocatalysts from both structural and compositional aspects down to the nanoscale plays the most essential role.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structure sensitivity and nanoscale effects in electrocatalysis

TL;DR: The role of the detailed nanoscale structure of catalytic surfaces on the activity of various electrocatalytic reactions of importance for fuel cells, hydrogen production, and other environmentally important catalytic reactions, such as carbon monoxide oxidation, methanol and ethanol oxidation, ammonia oxidation, nitric oxide reduction, hydrogen evolution, and oxygen reduction is discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

The role of adsorbates in the electrochemical oxidation of ammonia on noble and transition metal electrodes

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors studied the activity for ammonia oxidation and the intermediates formed during the reaction and found that the metal electrodissolution is enhanced by ammonia under these conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI

On the use of ammonia electrolysis for hydrogen production

TL;DR: In this article, an ammonia alkaline electrolytic cell for the production of hydrogen is presented, where the efficiency of the cell was improved by using bimetallic electrodeposited catalysts containing Pt and a low concentration of secondary metals (Ru, Ir).

The anodic oxidation of methanol and formic acid and the reductive. Adsorption of CO2

TL;DR: On the anodic fastpotential-sweep curve made on platinized platinum in acid solutions containing CH3OH and HCOOH, the potential of which is a strong function of temperature, at 95°C, approximately Eh = 400, at 25°C at approximately En = 600 mV (potentials against reversible H2-electrode).

The anodic oxidation of ammonia at platinum black electrodes in aqueous koh electrolyte

TL;DR: In this article, the anodic oxidation of ammonia in aqueous potassium hydroxide solutions at platinum black electrodes was studied and a kinetic scheme of consecutive reactions was proposed. But the authors did not consider the effect of the anisotropic nature of the solution.
Journal ArticleDOI

Some characteristics of oxidation reactions of organic compounds on platinum electrodes

TL;DR: In this article, the anodic oxidation of various organic substances on a rotating smooth platinum electrode has been studied using potentiostatic and galvanostatic methods, and it has been shown that the reaction order with respect to the oxidant is usually fractional, while at high bulk concentrations, the rate becomes independent of the concentration.
