TLDR
In this article, the first baroclinic deformation radius to the horizontal grid spacing indicates where an ocean model could explicitly simulate eddy effects; a function of this ratio can be used to specify where eddy effect are parameterized and where they are explicitly modeled.About:

The sensitivity of the Eocene–Oligocene Southern Ocean to the strength and position of wind stress
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors used an eddy-permitting ocean model with realistic late Eocene paleo-bathymetry to investigate the sensitivity of the Southern Ocean to paleolatitudinal migrations (relative to the gateways) and strengthening of the wind stress.

Mechanisms of tropical cyclone response under climate change in the community earth system model
TL;DR: In this article , the authors explore how tropical cyclones are affected by climate change using a present-day and a future (1% pCO2 scenario) ensemble of high resolution simulations.

Topographic Hotspots of Southern Ocean Eddy Upwelling
TL;DR: In this paper , the upwelling of cold water from the depths of the Southern Ocean to its surface closed the global overturning circulation and facilitates uptake of anthropogenic heat and carbon.
High-resolution modelling of long-term trends in the oxygen and carbon cycles of the Benguela upwelling system
Katharina Six,Uwe Mikolajewicz +1 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors investigated the biogeochemistry of the Benguela upwelling system (BUS) and their temporal changes over the 20th century using a global ocean-only model in a stretched grid configuration.

Assessment of the <i>z</i>∼ Time‐Filtered Arbitrary Lagrangian‐Eulerian Coordinate in a Global Eddy‐Permitting Ocean Model
TL;DR: In this article , an assessment of z∼ in a 1/4° global implementation of the Nucleus for European Modeling of the Ocean model is presented, and it is shown that, in the presence of near-inertial gravity waves in the North Atlantic, Z∼ significantly reduces Eulerian vertical velocities with respect to those in a simulation with the default z* vertical coordinate.

Atmosphere-Ocean Dynamics
TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe how the Ocean-Atmosphere system is driven by transfer of properties between the atmosphere and the ocean. But they do not consider the effects of side boundaries.
