TLDR
In this paper, the saturation effects in resonant degenerate backward four-wave mixing on a coupled transition involving Zeeman sublevels were investigated and it was shown that Zeeman coherence between the ground state degenerate sublevels provides the dominant nonlinear mechanism in the phase conjugation process.

Theory of degenerate four-wave mixing in saturable absorbing media with the inclusion of pump propagation effects

TL;DR: In this paper, the phase-conjugate reflectivity attainable by degenerate four-wave mixing in an idealized saturable absorbing medium is calculated for arbitrary values of the laser intensity, laser frequency, and absorption path-length of the nonlinear medium.

Coherent trapping of atomic populations.

TL;DR: A form of coherent trapping that occurs when multiple resonant laser beams are used to couple the various ground states to a common upper level is described, which prevents the extraction of the entire population.

Nonabsorption resonances by nonlinear coherent effects in a three-level system

TL;DR: The behaviour of a three-level system consisting of two ground-state sub-levels optically coupled to a common excited state is analyzed in this article, where exact steady solution of the semi-classical equations of motion for the density matrix is obtained (within the RWA) and numerically investigated when the frequency difference of the two applied fields becomes equal to the frequency splitting of the lower levels, a mechanism of transverse optical pumping takes place that accumulates all the atoms in a coherent superposition state of the ground sublevels, in which they are no longer able to
