Advances Toward a Net-Zero Global Building Sector
Diana Ürge-Vorsatz,Radhika Khosla,Rob Bernhardt,Yi Chieh Chan,David Vérez,Shan Hu,Luisa F. Cabeza +6 more
TL;DR: The building sector is responsible for 39% of process-related greenhouse gas emissions globally, making net-or nearly-zero energy buildings pivotal for reaching climate neutrality as mentioned in this paper, which is the goal of our work.
Journal ArticleDOI
Solar cooling between thermal and photovoltaic: An energy and economic comparative study in the Mediterranean conditions
Marco Noro,Renato Lazzarin +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated different cooling systems and investigated the most promising alternatives when solar energy is to be used to supply the cooling demand in a summer cooling season by the energetic and economic point of view.
Journal ArticleDOI
PV (photovoltaics) performance evaluation and simulation-based energy yield prediction for tropical buildings
TL;DR: In this paper, the performance of different solar cell types is evaluated for the tropical weather of Singapore, where on-site measured data of PV systems implemented in a zero-energy building in Singapore, is analyzed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Air source heat pump water heater: Dynamic modeling, optimal energy management and mini-tubes condensers
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented a dynamic simulation model to predict the performance of an air source heat pump water heater (ASHPWH) in the Lebanese context, which was used to assess its performance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Zero-energy hydrogen economy (ZEH2E) for buildings and communities including personal mobility
Kari Alanne,Sunliang Cao +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors define the concept of zero-energy hydrogen economy (ZEH2E) as such a zero energy system, where hydrogen is one of the key energy carriers, and conclude that the energy use of transportation, hydrogen supply from other than renewable energy resources (e.g. as a byproduct of industrial processes), and supporting metrics including the grid interactions, energy matching and reliability should be included in the zero energy definition.

Developing an adaptive model of thermal comfort and preference - eScholarship
Richard de Dear,Gail Brager +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined the semantics of thermal comfort in terms of thermal sensation, acceptability, and preference, as a function of both indoor and outdoor temperature, as predicted by the adaptive hypothesis.

Developing an adaptive model of thermal comfort and preference
Richard de Dear,Gail Brager +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the adaptive hypothesis predicts that contextual factors and past thermal history modify building occupants' thermal expectations and preferences, which is contrary to static assumptions underlying the current ASHRAE comfort standard 55-92.
Journal ArticleDOI
Current methods and advances in forecasting of wind power generation
TL;DR: A review of the current methods and advances in wind power forecasting and prediction can be found in this article, where numerical wind power prediction methods from global to local scales, ensemble forecasting, upscaling and downscaling processes are discussed.
